Hey there...today I came across a brilliant mnemonic for SLE and I thought it was a good opporunity to start a thread for those of us that have either created or come across useful mnemonics for Step 1. There is a great website www.medicalmnemonics.com, but if you've found something not on there that you'd like to add on here...post on!
Here's my SLE mnemonic that I came across in the USMLERx questions: BRAIN SOAP MD Blood dyscriasias (hemolytic anaemia) Renal disorders Arthritis IImmunological disorders Neurological disorders Serositis (pleuritis or pericarditis Oral ulcers ANA - if not on SLE inducing drugs (CHIMP) Photosensitivity Malar rash Discoid rash Come to think about it...there's not much else in here that's not in the well known I'M DAMN SHARP mnemonic, but perhaps the permutation will stick better with some than others. If you've come across something that may help everyone out...let's hear it! |
